Gold Fiction

My friend was buying some products at the Chanel counter last weekend and I found myself with time to kill. So I headed over to the nail polish and tried out the new FACETTES D’OR Nail Colour in Gold Fiction. I'm super picky about metallic polish but this one was superb. So after a long day of ebay auctions, I felt bratty and entitled to a treat. At 30.00 a bottle it definitely is a indulgence. But we all deserve some spoiling right? Well I guess I'm pretty spoiled cause I grabbed Kaleidoscope too.

Summer 08 Music

Every summer has its epic sound. That album or song that you will forever link to that time. A few years ago while living in the Los Feliz/Silverlake area it was Mylo/Angie Reed/ Moving units. This year the sound didn't set in until late summer. I had both Australian albums all summer but there is something about sharing it with your best friend that makes them come to live.

The favorite of the moment is Cut Copy “In Ghost Colours” . We just can't get enough of "Lights and Music".

Secondary is The Presets “Apocalypso” their album was in the jukebox at Akbar. We kept playing "This Boy's in Love" as we sipped on our cocktails.

L.A. Trip

I have just returned from the most amazing, fun, trip to L.A. Me and my best friend from NYC went for a week to make house calls for his clients in L.A. We filled our last day with as much fun as possible. The day started at LACMA where we stood in awe of Damien Hurst's Pieces. The collections are small but filled with just the right amount of interesting works.

We then headed to our favorite store ever, Maxfield LA in West Hollywood. Were we saw a certain Hollywood boyfriend buying a Chanel bike for his someone special. My favorite pieces were the huge vintage Hermès bags and a Black Thomas Wylde fringed bag to die for! The displays in Maxfield are so fun to look at. Our fave were these stuffed exotic birds.

I couldn't leave without checking out the Alexander Mcqueen store. The metal anatomical sculpture sticking out of the roof is amazing!

Our night was just as fun. We headed over to the Standard, in downtown, for drinks, and Akbar in silver lake (our old neighborhood bar were we kidnapped and befriended the most fantastic person.)

Later, our new friend took us to "A CLUB CALLED RHONDA ", where we danced away to the raddest disco.

I'm exhausted but so thrilled and invigorated from my trip.

Sept Finds

Ok, so I found some of these last month, but they are so more relevant for fall. When I first encountered the creature fur hat I thought "Oh! I can use that for a portrait" But with further inspection of fall issues, I think I must incorporate this into some outfits! The pendant/brooch is so beautiful I couldn't pass it up. The men's creeper type shoe was in instant love affair and they fit me! The floral pumps are so lovely and the perfect pattern but they don't fit so expect them on ebay in the next week or so.

Early 90's Vogue

It's that time of the year again. I plop myself in front of a stack of giant fall issues for a look ahead. It is getting sort of repetitive with tons of blogs posting editorials and ads months in advance. I was still surprisingly satisfied with Elle's Fall issue. There was tons of Art/Illustration articles that are so fun to read through. I still get giddy for fall/winter fashion even after pouring through years of fall issues. So I thought it would be fun to look back at Vogue's Fall 93 issue. It was a time not so different in aesthetic from our own. Dark moody florals, Velvets, 30's inspiration, thigh high boots, militant looks all haunted the pages of Vogue. Let us be inspired......
